  1. Hi, I’m currently a yr 2 student in Ngee Ann Poly, specializing in Special in Yr 3. I’m interested in MT and would like to find out more about MT and get exposed to Music Therapist as a profession before considering MT as my career. I am interested in internship for about 2 weeks, or weekly internship for over a month, whichever is preferred by the organization. May I know who is the best person/organization I should contact?

    • Hello Elaine,
Thanks for your interest in music therapy! Internship is an important part of the music therapist-in-training, and only undertaken when academic requirements are already completed. In the U.S. system, internship is 6 months full-time. You are interested in volunteering with local music therapists yes?
Best for you to write in to the respective special schools (e.g. Rainbow Centre, AWWA School) to observe the MT there. Hospitals are harder to gain clearance due to client confidentiality and infection control concerns (though schools too) – and may charge a fee for observation of MT sessions (e.g. SGH), subject to availability.
To learn more about MT, you can also attend our events. The upcoming one is by our professional member, Germaine Yong, Master’s in CMT, RMT, on 30/10/10 at Esplanade Library.
